RE-late 3

The current series is a “generational work” based on another series, RE-late 1, which in turn is based on one of my earlier works, Sound of Picture from 1993.
Sound of Picture is a sound work in which I recorded the sound emitted by a painting when a microphone is moved across its surface.

In the series RE-late 1 from 2022 (Note 1), I took as my starting point installation photographs from exhibitions featuring Sound of Picture, drawing lines of various colours between the components of the work on a computer.

In the current series, which is an update of RE-late 1, I have continued drawing and painting through several iterations, so that there are no longer only relational lines, but also colourful elements that emerge in the vicinity of the components of the original installation. As a result, the spaces in between are now activated as independent elements in their own right (Note 2).
Furthermore, the work is no longer limited to drawing on a computer, but also involves physical paint and painting on a print.

The current works in RE-late 3 appear more autonomous and possess value in their own right. Yet, although more subtle, the reference to Sound of Picture from 1993 is still present. These new works could never have achieved their respective forms of expression were it not for Sound of Picture.
From my perspective, this is a generational work in which successive re-paintings visualize the generations that reside within me and my life of somersaults, not always ending with a landing on my feet.
