We are dealing with the plant part, the growth, that has had the greatest influence on our cultural history… of all time: the fig leaf.
Now is the season when it falls from the tree… and I pick it up. It has turned yellow.
There is a straight line from the leaf in my orangery to the Fall of Man, where, according to the story, the first humans lost their innocence.
That’s where we are today: Mortal and bound to the earthly. And in the short time each of us is here, we manage to mess most of it up—to the cost of all other life… while pointing fingers at each other.
We are all guilty 🙂
P.S.: The closing smiley is mostly for internal use, I think. I’ve noticed I use it often… maybe as part of a slightly unconscious survival strategy.
